Company History In 1877, Meiji Mining Co., Ltd., the predecessor of Meiji Marble Co., Ltd., was founded by Keichiro Yasukawa.
As one of Japan’s eight major mining companies, alongside Mitsui, Mitsubishi, Sumitomo, Furukawa, Hokkaido Colliery & Steamship Co., and others, the company contributed to the development of Japan’s energy industry.
In 1963, one of its subsidiaries, Meiji Marble Industry Co., Ltd., was established.
In 1967, our current Chairman joined the company.
Subsequently, the energy revolution brought about by the transition to petroleum, the depletion of coal reserves, and the downturn in the construction industry led to the closure of Meiji Marble Industry Co., Ltd. in February 1977.
With the closure of the company, it was considered unacceptable to abandon ongoing stonework projects and contracted work.
Accordingly, the company name was transferred, with our current Chairman, who was then the head of the Osaka Branch, becoming its representative.
Meiji Marble Co., Ltd. was subsequently established as a new company with all employees and craftsmen of the Osaka Branch.
